Pictorially richly designed , rare business art work for the undertaker Humphrey Dren and there at the time of present version of the engraving still in use. Shows a rich burial procession before the entrance of the church. Below the data to be completed manually:
“ You are desired to Accompany ye Corps of (…) from h(…) late Dwelling in (…) to (…) on (…) next at (…) of the Clock in the Evening. Perform’d by Humphrey Dren Undertaker, in King-Street Westminster. ”
Cook “made his mark as Hogarth engraver, too, whose complete work he has engraved in copy” (Thieme-Becker) and whose original format he maintained contrary to all later Hogarth editions in his first, earlier edition. For some sheets not published by Hogarth himself Cook became their first engraver, just as he also gained approval of a contemporary connoisseur as Maximilian Speck von Sternburg. Present here in his popular smaller, later version. – Trimmed within the wide platemark and in this minimally timespotted.
