Worked for the duodecimo edition of Nicholas Amherst’s Terræ Filius, a satire offering advice on the Oxford principles of the Tories.
Early Hogarth, here in Cook’s representation who “made his mark as Hogarth engraver, too” (Thieme-Becker); present sujet, however, he has treated supposedly for the first time only in the small edition of the years 1806/09 following his folio edition. – Trimmed within the wide white platemark and here on three edges slightly brown-touched.
